Committee on Christian
Education
As one arm of the
church, this committee is to be concerned in fostering
a climate in which growth of faith and life, through
education, can be achieved by overseeing and structuring
those events, classes, retreats, etc., that will accomplish
this goal. Resources of people, materials, events, etc.,
within the congregation, as well as from the church-at-large
(synod and ELCA), shall be made available in order to
achieve the objectives of growth in faith. They will
advise and aid the pastor(s) in the congregation’s confirmation
ministry and first-communion process. This committee
shall oversee the Sunday School program and select,
with approval by the Congregation Council, a Sunday
School Superintendent, who will direct that education
program. All Sunday School teachers are automatically
members of this committee. A Youth Ministry sub-committee may be formed
through this committee to provide and enable ministry
to the youth.

Committee on
Fellowship
This
committee shall aid the congregation and its committees
in planning and carrying out events to foster fellowship
and community within its ranks. One of the main objectives
is to integrate all members – new, long-time, prospective,
and inactive – into the life of the congregation.
Committee on Worship
This committee
shall assist the church council and congregation in fulfilling its function as a
worshipping community. As such, it shall see that worship is conducted regularly
and in accordance with the traditions of the Lutheran Church. It shall recruit
and provide training for lay assistants, lay readers, acolytes, ushers, altar
guild, choirs and other worship personnel. Continuing education shall be
encouraged and supported for key worship leaders. Oversee the proper care of
paraments, vestments, worship appoints and musical instruments in conjunction
with the altar guild and other appropriate committees. It shall also provide and
care for worship books, and furnish devotional and worship materials, music and
supplies as it strives to develop a climate that encourages congregation
participation in worship so as to nurture the spiritual life of God’s people.

Committee on
Stewardship
The treasurer
of the congregation and the finance committee chairperson shall be members of
this committee ex-officio. It shall teach and promote the Christian use of
money; inform the congregation of its mission at home and in the regional,
national and world-wide ministries; lead and encourage all members to high
standards of proportionate giving for the Lord’s work; and conduct those
activities, including the every-member visitation, that lead to informed and
grateful giving. It shall cooperate with the committee on evangelism to evoke
and promote the expression of Christian faith in daily living.
Committee on
Evangelism
This committee
shall stimulate and lead all members of the congregation to be witnesses to
Jesus Christ in all aspects of their daily lives. It shall be responsible for
reaching out to members of the community who are not currently affiliated with
the church or may be looking for a new church family. It shall cooperate with
the committee on stewardship to evoke and promote the expression of Christian
faith in daily living.

Committee on Social
Ministry
This committee
shall guide the congregation in its service function. As such, it shall foster a
climate within the congregation in which those in need are cared for. It shall
analyze and study needs within the congregation and the communities served by
the congregation and stimulate study programs for youth and adult in areas of
social concern. It shall promote and guide the development of congregation
social ministry projects as well as recommend appropriate social action to the
congregation as a whole; serve as a social-action arm of the congregation as a
whole; service as a social conscience of the congregation, so that the cleansing
and healing light of the gospel may be brought to bear on church and society.
Some of the tasks assigned to this committee are ministry to the sick and
shut-in and overseeing the tape ministry for those desiring this service.
Committee on Finance
This committee
shall oversee all financial affairs of the congregation to make sure they are
being conducted efficiently, reporting regularly to church council. It shall
prepare a draft budget for the succeeding year, including the congregation’s
full indicated share in support of wider ministry being carried on by synodical
and church-wide agencies of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and
shall submit such draft budget to the congregation council for its action and
later presentation to a congregation meeting; and recommend to the congregation
council, after consultation with the staff support committee, the salaries and
fringe benefits together with basic work and vacation policies for clergy and
lay employees. It shall see that all obligations of the congregation are paid
promptly and that benevolence monies are forwarded monthly to the synod through
appropriate channels, and exercise responsibility by direction of the church
council for the congregation’s investments, insurance program and banking
procedures. It shall also arrange with the audit committee for annual audits of
the accounts of the treasurer(s), the financial secretary, and financial
accounts of the other organizations within the congregation.

Committee on Care of
Property
This committee
shall see to the proper maintenance and protection of all property of the
congregation. The property shall be inspected annually so that all church
property can be kept in good repair.
Rocking Horse
Preschool Board
The preschool shall be viewed as a community outreach. This board will oversee
the operation of the preschool ministry of the congregation. It shall be
responsible for recommending for church council approval the hiring of teachers,
salaries and special facility requirements. The board shall maintain a separate
financial accounting, with the goal of making the outreach a break-even program.
