Pastor's Message

Remembering 9/11

How can we observe this 10th Anniversary of 9/11? Here are a few suggestions. First, take time to remember and honor those who died on that day as well as their families who continue to grieve. Never allow them to get lost in history.

Secondly, turn to God in prayer. We can pray for a world of peace and understanding. We can ask God to inspire people who emphasize the differences that they have with others to realize that there’s so much that they have in common with those they oppose. We can pray that terrorists see the error of their ways and realize that violence only begets more violence. We can pray for the safety of all our troops who continue to fight against terrorism.

Thirdly, be an example of peace and understanding in your life. We can take the time to build bridges between ourselves and those from different backgrounds or faith traditions.

And finally, follow the example of those NYC emergency personnel who served others. Certainly, as we reach out in service to those around us, we all can improve our world in a small way and make a difference.
