The Lutheran Church of the Holy Triniy

Where All Are Welcome

Prayers of Intercession

Open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we pray for the church, the world, and all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

You rejoice in your church, gracious God when it welcomes anyone who seeks your grace at the table you have prepared and when we go out to share the saving mercy we have received in Jesus Christ. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You rejoice in your good creation as you provide moisture for parched places, wind and sun for flooded lands, and shelter and sustenance for creatures of every kind. Watch over the people of California as they deal with the horrific fires and loss of life. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You rejoice in those who serve their communities as first responders; police, fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics, sheriff’s deputies, state police and others who seek to keep us safe and our communities healthy places in which to live and raise our families. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You rejoice in the people and places of the world enable leaders and nations to work out their differences at the peace table together rather than reacting out of fear and mistrust. Help those who have had to flee from their homes to find places of sanctuary where they can live and raise their families without fear. Instill in our nation’s leaders the heart of compassion so that they might keep open our nation’s doors in welcome to those who would seek refuge here. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You bring peace that surpasses understanding to us and to those who cannot worship with us this day: those who are homebound, hospitalized, imprisoned, or working especially. Comfort their hearts and ours with your healing and renewing presence. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You rejoice with us as we celebrate special moments in our lives. Be with Aimee Mengle, Angelo Rodriguez, Jason Reading, Abigayle Witinski, Jared Bittner, Stephen Moyer and Ashley Savage on the occasion of their birthdays and with Dennis & Susan Biehl and Wade & Teri Potts on the occasion of their wedding anniversaries. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You rejoice in this congregation as it makes known your presence in the community and seeks to serve the lost and broken ones who look to us for that which they lack. We pray for its ministries and our leaders as we go through this time of transition and renewal. Give us courage to seek the future that you have in store for us. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

You promise an eternal feast. We give thanks for the saints of every time and place especially Teresa of Avila, whom we commemorate today. Hold us in communion with them until we are all united at your heavenly banquet. Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting the power of Christ and the gifts of the Spirit.

Amen.
